KQED is een publieke radio- en TV-zender in Noord-Californië. De zender is gericht op de Bay Area, maar is ook lid van NPR and PBS en zendt dus zowel lokale als nationale programma's uit.
Fishkin: 'The big surprise to me was that, as we become more polarized, it's the more polarized issues that change the most. I think because those people are in their filter bubbles or enclave, and they haven't heard the other side. And if you just expose them to the other side, it backfires. But if you engage them in a civil dialogue for a period of time, they begin to listen.' (12:52)
Vanaf 48:56 bericht Fishkin dat hij naar Mongolië gaat, om te vieren dat ze daar dankzij een initiatief van een geloot burgerberaad gaan overstappen op een kiesstelsel met evenredige vertegenwoordiging, zodat Mongolië niet langer gegijzeld wordt door de twee grote partijen die het tegen elkaar opnemen. Eerder hielp Fishkin Mongolië met het invoeren van een gelote burgerjury die de mogelijkheid heeft om te voorkomen dat het parlement een onwenselijk grondwetswijzigingsvoorstel in behandeling neemt; een soort preventief burgerveto dus.
